First Trilateral Political Consultations between Iran India and Uzbekistan held in Tehran
The first round of political consultations between Iran India and Uzbekistan at the level of Directors General of Regional Departments of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the three countries was held in Tehran.
The first round of trilateral political consultations between the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of India, and the Republic of Uzbekistan at the level of Directors General of Regional Departments of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the three countries was held in Tehran on 9 September 2025 (18 Shahrivar 1404). The Iranian delegation was headed by Mohammad Reza Bahrami, Director General for South Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Indian delegation was led by Anand Prakash, Regional Director General at the Ministry of External Affairs of the Republic of India, and the Uzbek delegation was chaired by Ghulamjon Primkulov, Director General for Cooperation with South Asian, Middle Eastern, Near Eastern, and African Countries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Expressing satisfaction with the convening of this trilateral meeting, the three sides emphasized the importance of holding such consultations on a regular and annual basis to serve mutual interests and promote prosperity and well-being in the region. The three parties underlined the need to expand and deepen cooperation, particularly in the fields of connectivity, the strategic use of ports in this regard, and the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC). They reviewed progress on decisions adopted during the Third Meeting of the Chabahar Working Group, held in Mumbai, India, in November 2024. The delegations also discussed ways to enhance trade relations as well as other issues of mutual interest. Furthermore, the three sides exchanged views on regional issues and explored mechanisms for strengthening cooperation in the fight against extremism and terrorism.
